Hannibal was the name given to our 2kW LFG (Light Field Generator) by its first operator.

The set has undertaken countless tours of active duty in places such as Kosovo, Cyprus, Germany, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, Northern Ireland and Ethiopia. He’s helped to do most tasks from supplying standalone power for Command vehicles to making the lads tea. He has been shot at, blown up, buried and dropped out of a helicopter. He has over 3,800 brothers and sisters many of whom have been working constantly for over 6000 hours but he is still classed only as an infant .Some of his cousins on Civy Street have done in excess of 57,000 hours of loyal service.

Now Hannibal has become somewhat of a celebrity on the show circuit as he appeared at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference in Abu Dhabi, then he went on to be part of a military field hospital demonstration given by Utilis UK in Glossop England, and traveled on to the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition in London where he met over 29,000 visitors from all over the world.

On the 21st October he was then given a last minute invite by NATO, NATO ESCD and NAMSA to make an appearance in Lithuania at the “Innovative Energy Solutions for Military Applications” conference this would be his last public appearance this year before undergoing a refurbishment back at his base at HGI for returning to active duty. However due to unforeseen circumstances he missed his collection at HGI factory in Wirksworth to go on the last road trip of the year.

HGI`s export department were quickly on the phone to Advance Forwarding in Melbourne who acted swiftly in finding a flight out to Lithuania he was packed safely in his case and left Monday morning from HGI to fly to Vilnius unfortunately the flight didn’t connect in Leipzig, Germany Monday night so he waited patiently for Tuesdays flight. Due to bad weather in Leipzig no flights were able to depart Tuesday night so the shipment was rerouted to go by road to Warsaw then change transport on to Vilnius in Lithuania. We then lost contact with him and we were getting worried as the conference started on the Thursday.

HGI then went back to the guys at Advance who somehow tracked him down and managed to get him to the gates at 9 am Thursday morning giving him just ½ hour to get ready for the doors to open at 9.30 to greet the speakers. He stood proudly there for the day and then returned to his box to do the return journey back to HGI.

Everyone at HGI would like to thank Paul and his team at Advance Forwarding who fought to get our man Hannibal there and back safely.
